On each of our servers we needed to ask for permission to be able to upload images, but as we mostly worked off one laptop, an on another server some of the members of the team including me didn’t ask or the permission. Though an error message comes up, once we get the permission the uploader will work fine.
Using phpMyAdmin we were able to create a database that would hold the information for all the log in details and when someone registered to our site, there would be entered into the table as a new member. This table included an ID, which would generate an ordered numbers which would be always be different from the rest, Username and two passwords. These details meant that when people go in, they can use the username and password that they set to login. Having to password also made sure that misspelt passwords weren’t entered as you can see the password being entered when typing, to keep the password private.
Though this was a team project some of our team members didn’t feel that there was a good divide in work, and that some or most of the work was left to the 4 out of the 6 of us. From the start we had problems with our team, but this situation was quickly resolved. In the end we were combined with another group, which lead to there being 6 of us. We as team though felt that two members, Alexander and Bradley, didn’t partake in much or any of the tasks that we had to do. Though this happened it wasn’t a down fall as we still had 4 members of the group left that worked well together and tried hard at the project.
To get some idea on layout and the good and point of image uploading website, I did some research into similar existing websites. One of the first website/app I looked into was Instagram. I thought that the way that you can only use Instagram once logged in would be a feature that we should defiantly take into our website. The layout and presentation of the website, was also a factor that I would like to put forwards when we start to finalise our website. This layout of Instagram make sure that all images are the same size and shape and allow to be viewed far away with all other images and a an bigger individual image. From this I’m thinking that maybe a similar thing should take place on our site, but not in the same way, as it will start to become to like Instagram.
Another famous image uploading site is Tumblr, though this is also a website that allows you also to upload any image, it’s just as popular as Instagram. This was a worry for me that Instagram would be to popular that there isn’t much point making another image uploading site, but seeing that this one works just as well and isn’t refined to a theme, were as ours is art work, makes me feel much more positive about our website working . I also noticed that for both of them there was some sort of liking ability and this is another feature that hopefully we will be able to add into our website.
